Ethics Guidelines

The principles and standards that govern our research conduct, editorial independence, and commitment to public benefit.

Our Commitment

Investara Research is committed to conducting research that is objective, transparent, evidence-informed, and designed to advance financial capability, consumer protection, and economic mobility.

Our research is intended to inform—not advocate—and is guided by the principles below.

Ten Ethical Principles

01

Independence

  • Research findings are developed independently and are not influenced by commercial objectives, partnerships, sponsors, or client relationships.
  • Research conclusions are based on the available evidence, even when findings do not align with organizational interests.
02

Objectivity

  • We strive to present findings accurately, fairly, and without intentional bias.
  • Recommendations are supported by evidence and clearly distinguished from opinion.
03

Transparency

  • Whenever possible, we disclose: research methodology, data sources, assumptions, limitations, version history, and material revisions.
  • Readers should understand how conclusions were reached.
04

Data Integrity

  • We are committed to using reliable and verifiable data.
  • When modeled estimates or assumptions are necessary, they are clearly identified.
  • We do not intentionally manipulate or selectively report data to support predetermined conclusions.
05

Respect for Privacy

  • We respect individual privacy and confidentiality.
  • Investara Research does not publish personally identifiable information without explicit authorization.
  • Any client-derived insights are anonymized and aggregated unless express written consent has been obtained.
06

Responsible Use of AI

  • Artificial intelligence may assist with literature review, drafting, editing, data organization, or visualization.
  • Human researchers retain responsibility for methodology, interpretation, verification, editorial decisions, and final publication.
  • AI does not replace independent judgment.
07

Conflict of Interest

  • Potential conflicts of interest are disclosed when relevant.
  • Commercial activities do not determine research outcomes.
  • When Investara provides products or services related to a research topic, that relationship is disclosed transparently.
08

Accountability

  • We welcome constructive feedback.
  • If factual errors are identified, we will review the evidence and publish corrections when appropriate.
  • Maintaining public trust is more important than preserving appearances.
09

Continuous Improvement

  • Research evolves.
  • Methodologies, data sources, and analytical frameworks will improve over time as new evidence becomes available.
  • Annual publications may include methodological refinements that are fully documented.
10

Public Benefit

  • Our research is intended to contribute to better public policy, improved financial education, more transparent credit systems, greater consumer understanding, and stronger financial decision-making.
  • We believe research should create value for society beyond commercial interests.

Balanced Accountability

We believe healthy financial ecosystems require accountability from all participants. Consumers, financial institutions, data furnishers, credit reporting agencies, educators, technology providers, and policymakers each play a role in promoting accurate information, responsible financial behavior, and equitable access to financial opportunity.

Our research seeks to evaluate systems objectively and identify opportunities for improvement across the entire ecosystem rather than placing responsibility on any single stakeholder.
